The Youth of Canada Scholarship

We believe in unlocking the future potential of Canada's youth. For the past 5 years, Youth of Canada has continuously supported the development and empowerment of youth through our content and events. With this, we introduce the first annual Youth of Canada Scholarship open to Canadian youth.

Criteria

  • Must be aged 14-20
  • Must be a currently enrolled student (high school or post-secondary)
  • Must submit one reference (references may not include family or friends)
  • Must be a Canadian citizen and attending school in the Canada
Students have the option to apply in written (essay) format or video format.​

The questions required within each format are standardized:


1. Describe an initiative you're proud of or an experience that is memorable to you. What was the impact and what did you learn?
2. Illustrate instances where you've actively forged pathways for others to flourish and grow. What was the outcome?
3. What advice would you give someone younger, or your younger self?

One written reference is required per student, references may not include family or friends.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the application timeline?

The scholarship application period opens on August 20th, 2023 and will close on October 1st, 2023! We encourage applicants to submit before the deadline. Late admissions will not be accepted.

 

Will the judges care about spelling and grammar in my essay?

Spelling and grammar errors can impact your application. Please ensure proper grammar, spelling, sentence, structure, etc. We recommend double-checking your work before submitting it.

I'm an international student. Can I apply?

At this time, the scholarship is only open to eligible youth residing in Canada.

Is there a word limit for the written application?

Yes. 400 words is the maximum for written responses.

​

Is there a time limit for the video submissions?

Yes. Each video can be maximum 2 minutes and 15 seconds (no deduction for 5 seconds over.)

​

When will I find out if I am successful?

There is no specific date in which the successful applicant will discover their selection. Expect to receive an email between winter 2023 and early spring 2024.

Are homeschooled students eligible to apply?

Of course! We encourage all students aged 14-20 residing in Canada to apply.

 

Can my application be in a language other than English?

No, at this time we are only accepting applications written/spoken in English.

Can I make changes to my application after submitting it?

Applicants will not be able to make any updates to an application after submitting it. We encourage you to edit your application prior to submission. Late applications will not be accepted.
