2022 Awareness Challenge

What Is the Awareness Challenge?
Youth of Canada is hosting its first-ever Awareness Challenge, in which Canadian youth are challenged to focus on an issue concerning youth, and how they can address the issue in their community. In this contest, to be hosted in July 2022, youth are challenged to think outside of the box, while providing an enriching competitive opportunity for youth to voice their unique opinions.


What do applicants submit?
Applicants are asked to submit their own creative answers to the following prompts:
1. What is the issue, why did you choose it?
2. Why is the issue significant to raise awareness about?
3. How can this issue be addressed in your community, and what would be your plan and the projected outcome?



How are winners chosen?
There will be first, second, and third place winners. Using standardized rubrics, judges will rank each submission. 
- Creativity
- Evidence of Thoroughness
- Easy to follow and comprehend
- Tangible and realistic ideas
- High level of detail
Judges can include experts in the social awareness space, professors, professionals, or post-secondary students in related fields.



What is the purpose of the Awareness Challenge?
The purpose of the Awareness Challenge is to empower youth voices and provide a unique growth opportunity for youth. As part of our mandate, which is to provide opportunities for youth, we are committed to creating a challenging and inspiring environment in which youth can break out of their comfort zone, explore passions, and express themselves.
